Matinée Musicale

Our season kicks off with the Symphony’s long-time clarinetist Jan Scott performing C.M. von Weber’s “Concertino” and Ravel’s “Tombeau de Couperin”, led by guest maestro Roberto Gianola.
 
Brahms and (Mrs.) Schumann
Saturday, March 15, 7:30 p.m.
Twenty years after her triumph as the first winner of the Louisiana International Piano Competition, pianist Anna (Polusmiak) Shelest return to Cenla to perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor. Brahms’s final Symphony No. 4 is a perfect match for this concert. 
 
Springtime Pops
Saturday, April 26, 7:30 p.m.
This year’s Pops at the Red River Bank Headquarters (1412 Centre Court) will feature “The Music of Elton John and Billy Joel” performed by the touring company Jeans ‘N Classics.  As always, this is free and open to the public. Special table seating available by calling 318-442-9709
 
Mozart’s Don Giovanni
Saturday, September 20, 7:30 p.m.
The Symphony and a fabulous cast of singers will perform Mozart’s dramatic tale of the notorious womanizing libertine Don Giovanni. Presented with assistance from the Anne Coughlin Opera Series.
 
Something Wicked
Saturday, October 18, 7:30 p.m.
With Halloween just around the corner, “dark” classics are on the program including Mussorgsky’s “A Night on Bald Mountain,” Richard Strauss’s “Salome’s Dance,” and the suite from the Hitchcock film “Psycho.”
 
A Worldwide Yuletide
Sunday, December 7, 2:30 p.m.
We close our season with our annual holiday concert highlighting musical traditions from around the globe. Heaps of holiday joy for the whole family!
 
BONUS CONCERT – Peter and the Wolf
Sunday, March 16, 2:30 p.m.
Bring the kids and join us for Prokofiev’s timeless musical tale of “Peter and the Wolf” at the Alexandria Zoo.  The concert is free and entrance fee to the zoo is on us!
