To all of our faithful supporters, members, and friends,
Since 1967, Rapides Symphony Orchestra has brought cultural enrichment to the central Louisiana community through our annual concert series and educational initiatives. Like other symphonies, businesses, and organizations across the country we now must rethink how we achieve this mission, while ensuring financial stability.
So far, we have presented just one concert of our 2020-21 Concert Season, the “Christmas Inside Out” performance in early December, which can be viewed here
. We fully plan to present the remaining four concerts of this season but will postpone these performances, extending the season until August through December 2021. Starting in January 2022, we will transition to calendar year-based seasons, each season running from January through December, rather than our current season model which starts each September. Any ticket already purchased for a canceled or postponed concert can be used for entry at one of our concerts in the extended season. Our board and staff thoughtfully considered the options before us and believed this to be the most prudent plan to ensure the well-being of Rapides Symphony for years to come.
For 54 years, our generous and faithful supporters have sustained RSO, and we are grateful for your support throughout this transition. Your patronage as members, contributors, advertisers, corporate and individual sponsors, and ticket purchasers is the most significant source of income for our organization. COVID-19 has had a tremendous economic impact on all of us. Your continued financial contributions will make a critical difference in helping our organization weather the coming months as we prepare for changes to our season structure.
We have and will always remain committed to our mission of bringing classical music to our community and fostering music education in central Louisiana. In the meantime, we will continue to share past RSO recordings virtually, on our Facebook page
and here on the website
. We hope that you will remain connected with us until we can gather for live performances once again.
