Pops on the River – “Red, White, and Boom”

Our annual "Pops on the River" concert will feature everything you love about this annual event – great music, a beautiful riverfront setting, good friends, great food and drink. This year, we will celebrate American patriotic favorites and feature some "home-grown" talent – singer Katelyn Sooter, and the winner of Fox 48 TV’s "Cenla Idol" competition. We’ll also end the show with a "boom." Don’t miss it!

The concert is free and open to the public. Special table seating is also available by calling the Symphony at 442-9709, ext. 1.

Louisiana International Piano Competition Finals
With Finalists of the LIPC Piano Competition

Once again the Rapides Symphony is proud to perform with three world-class rising stars of the Louisiana International Piano Competition. The winner of the weeklong competition and festival will be named based on their concerto performances with the RSO on this concert. It is sure to be a great event where Alexandria takes center stage in the music world.

Family Concert – “Peter and the Wolf”

This specially designed hour-long performance is for families and children who may be experiencing the magic of a full symphony orchestra for the first time. The RSO will be joined by the Lagniappe Theatre Company for a performance of Prokofiev’s timeless classic “Peter and the Wolf.”

A Trip to Vienna
With Anton Shelepov, violin
Winner, William C. Byrd Young Artists Competition in 2008

All of the music on this concert comes from the birthplace of classical music, the city of Vienna. The centerpiece of this concert is Brahms’s epic “Violin Concerto” performed by outstanding violinist Anton Shelepov.

We will close our 43rd season with a semi-staged version of the opera “Carmen”. One of the most beloved in the repertoire, it has everything you want in an opera: love, tragedy, and beautiful music.
